Urban walk through Coruña
On December 16th and 18th, the 4th year of ESO students (two groups of 38 students on one day and another of 40 on the second day) took an excursion through the city of A Coruña.
What did they do in this activity?
In this outing, they were able to see the imprint left by the history of the last 200 years: the Battle of Elviña, the Irrigation Revolution, urban transformations as a result of industrialization, the Brotherhoods of Speech, Modernism..., all of this mixed with relevant characters from literature (Spanish and Galician), intellectuals, painters, politicians, etc., giving importance to relevant women for different reasons: heroines, writers, scholars, adventurers, benefactors of society and anonymous women who were key in the development of the city such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, Rosalía de Castro, Concepción Arenal, Juana de Vega, Modesta Goicuria, Isabel Zendal...
Thus, throughout the visit, the students were approached by these women, briefly explaining their lives, work and relevant role in society and history in different locations such as their place of residence, importance of their work, place where it was produced...
The activity included the participation of the departments of History, Galician Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Literature and the Plan Proxecta "Donas de si" team.
